Samantha Sugar
Samantha is a Research Associate at the Weikart Center.
Samantha collaborates with the Michigan Department of Education regarding 21st CCLC grantee sites. In addition, she will be working with Creative Change Educational Solutions, which focuses on educating youth on how to build a sustainable society. Samantha’s roles include data management and analysis for the Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI) study, as well other various research projects. Samantha also writes various research reports related to the Youth Program Quality Assessment (Youth PQA) tool, including reports for the Detroit Neighborhood Arts Workshop (DNAW) and the Iowa Collaboration for Youth Development (ICYD).
Samantha officially joined the Center for Youth Program Quality full-time in May 2008. Prior to that, she worked as an intern for High/Scope Educational Research Foundation and she has been a valuable asset.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Alma College where she majored in Sociology as well as Political Sciences and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Social Work degree. Samantha concentrated on social policy and evaluation in the area of children and youth during her time at the University of Michigan.
